Two-seater gala mule litter, beginning of 18th century
Mule litters were regarded as a particularly comfortable and secure mode of transport but were increasingly superseded by carriages and later on by the railway. This example owes its survival to the circumstance that it was used for transporting the archducal coronet between Klosterneuburg abbey and Vienna.
