Dommuseum

The Dommuseum (Cathedral and Diocesan Museum) was founded in 1933 and is appraised as a jewel among the Viennese museums. Its permanent collection presents fine arts from a period of more than a thousand years, mainly works from St Stephen’s Cathedral and other churches in Vienna and Lower Austria. The most precious treasure is the portrait of Duke Rudolf IV, painted in the fourteenth century and said to be the oldest portrait in the West.
