Emperor Charles IV, resin cast of the statue on the South Tower of St Stephen’s Cathedral (original dates to c. 1360/1365)

In order to emphasize the function of St Stephen’s Cathedral as a means of representing the status of the dynasty Rudolf IV commissioned a cycle of statues of himself and his wife, Catherine of Bohemia, his parents Duke Albrecht II and Johanna of Pfirt, and his parents-in-law Emperor Charles IV and Blanche of Valois.
