Armorial Tower of the Innsbruck Hofburg, painting, 1768

Before work started on the remodelling of the Hofburg commissioned by Maria Theresa the armorial tower built by Maximilian I was documented by an anonymous painter. The heraldic decoration comprising 54 coats of arms was executed by the court painter Jörg Kölderer and represented the genealogical and territorial programme of the Habsburgs around 1500.
